 • The Freewayblogger - usual anti-war politics, but very effectively and cheaply spread

The Freewayblogger is about encouraging people to go and spread anti-war messages easily and cheaply.

Basically, you put a big sign - often just the word 'Impeach' - where people driving on a freeway can see it.

The anti-war politics of the site are the same old yawn, but we should pay close attention to this cheap way of getting a message out.

Some of the ones further down the page are quite cute.

"I'm tired of hearing what rich people think" struck a better note.

Big problem we've got is not having a position that can be expressed in short phrases and resonate with at least a section of people who see or hear those phrases.

It's not just a problem of how to get the message out, or even how to express it pithily, but what the message is - what we want people to do or even to think.

How about:

Download Free Music

Support the Iraqi People

Kill Fascists In Iraq

It's Right To Rebel

www.lastsuperpower.net

Neither Labor nor Liberal

Am in a sour mood, sorry:

Download Free Music - ok but people just do it

Support the Iraqi People - will be read as "US Out Now"

Kill Fascists In Iraq - will be read as "Support the Iraqi Resistance"

It's Right To Rebel - ok but no context at the moment

www.lastsuperpower.net - only useful when attached to something else

Neither Labor nor Liberal - ok but will be read as "Vote Green". Another version should work though.

Great! They'll be affirmed by something they see on a 'protest' banner - maybe for the first time ever. Makes them more likely to pay attention to the next one they see, in case that affirms them as well.

Not Labor, Not Liberal:
Vote Informal

or

Vote Informal, not Green

You can use a combination of 'Last Superpower' and other signs in the same go, so that people get used to seeing 'www.lastsuperpower.net' near our slogans.

Can't think of a decent Iraq slogan at the moment.

I would like to suggest the following (not that I'll be painting them on any billboards in the near future!):

Download Free Music - what's radical about downloading the music if it's free? How about: Download more music!

Support the Iraqi People - how about 'Solidarity with Iraq' (The notion of international solidarity needs to be reasserted)

Kill Fascists In Iraq - maybe jst Smash Fascism or 'Give fascism the purple finger'

It's Right To Rebel

www.lastsuperpower.net

Neither Labor nor Liberal - I agree with the comments above by youngmarxist and arthur.

BUT, one new one could be: The future is bright. (Remember the dude who used to go around Sydney writing 'Eternity' everywhere? A pity we can't do that with 'The future is bright').

Also, off the top of my head, as a "sixties person" (no, not because i'm heading for my sixties!!), I reckon John Lennon's 'Imagine' has some significance: Imagine no religion and Imagine there's no countries.

Even plain old Rock on! sounds leftwing these gloomy days,

byork, "Download More Music" could be just as good as "Download Free Music", and I especially like "The Future Is Bright".
