Iraqi Shiites Fail to Get Majority, Need Coalition (Update2)

Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Iraq's Shiite Muslim-based religious parties won 128 out of 275 seats in the December vote for a permanent parliament, requiring them to form a coalition government, according to results released today.

Iraq's Constitution Adopted by Voters

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraq's constitution was adopted by a majority in a fair vote during the Oct. 15 referendum, as Sunni Arab opponents failed to muster enough support to defeat it, election officials said Tuesday. A prominent Sunni politician called the balloting ``a farce.''
